The 1971 carbide wear rod patent had tapered turning carbides.

Blunt end carbide builds up resistance that your track has to overcome, generating the need for studs to gain control.

Since the carbide wear rod patent had tapered ends on the carbide, is it possible these blunt ends where used to generate stud sales?
